It's a Bank Holiday!

After a week of sun and warmth the official holiday date dawns and on cue Jupiter and Freyr revisit their old territory and gift the resident and visiting mortals’…Rain.

A shame but not sufficient to break the indomitable spirit of the English at the seaside.

To good fortune Neptune and Njord chose compassion so the tidal flow is benign to those wishing to build sand castles and paddle with low tide at an accommodating 10.30am and the whole 5 miles of golden sand available throughout the visitors day to provide children with their opportunities o build, dig, paddle and hunt crabs and their parents with a safe risk free playground to overview whilst they relax in the shelter of their beach tent, anorak and wind break.

The joys of a day by the sea triumph the adversity.

Away from the beach the local shops, cafes; fish shops and pubs do a respectable trade and feel the day a successful step towards the full fat influx of summer trippers. And, the gulls abandon the inland landfill sites that sustained them through winter and return to their town beat to enjoy the reappearance of their all you can eat all day buffet before reverting to their role as work creators for local window cleaners and car washes.

The days parting thought? Roll on summer….
